The Pilgrimage City Of Antipolo

Antipolo is known as the "Pilgrimage City" in Rizal, the religious shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage (Nuestra Senora de la Paz y Buen Viaje / Immaculate Conception) stands in the City. It is around 29 kilometers east of Manila. The statue of a 17th-century Roman Catholic wooden image of the Blessed Virgin Mary (a Black Madonna) was brought to the country by Governor-General Juan Niño de Tabora from Mexico via the galleon El Almirante in 1626. His safe voyage across the Pacific Ocean was attributed to the image, which was given the title of "Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage" During the lenten season and the month of May, devotees from different places come together to visit the shrine and celebrate their faith and pray.
